A humble and discreet man who was described as ‘the most dangerous man in China’ by his opponents
Watchman Nee (1903–1972) is one of the major figures of the Christian faith in the 20th century. His systematic teaching of Christian truths had a decisive influence on Chinese Christianity and gave it the means to endure communist persecution. Condemned for his faith, he spent twenty years in prison, deprived of his Bible and subjected to inhumane conditions. Until the end, he remained faithful to Christ.
His teachings, marked by a rare spiritual depth—notably his seminal work *The Spiritual Man*, written when he was only 25—have influenced Christians around the world to this day.
