This contemporary Bible translation (EBV24) is a new Dutch Bible translation based on the original texts of the Bible, both for the Old and New Testaments. The aim of the translation is to convey God's Word in a clear and understandable way to a wide audience, without detracting from the depth and richness of the original text. The EBV24 is an independent translation, created through the work of believers without specific financial support from governments or church organizations. The translation uses contemporary Dutch, with the use of “je” and “jij” tailored to everyday speech between people.
A special feature of the EBV24 is the use of the Aramaic Peshitta as the source for the New Testament, which brings the translation closer to the original language of Jesus and his contemporaries. Naturally, the Old Testament has been translated from Hebrew.
The EBV24 also uses the Name of the LORD, JaHWeH, in the New Testament, which reinforces the awareness of the unity of the Old and New Testaments.
